1. General Information

Q: What is the mission of The 11:59 House? A: The primary mission of The 11:59 House is to prevent homelessness in Wilson, NC, and surrounding areas by providing affordable, shared housing for individuals with stable income who are drug and alcohol-free or actively working towards sobriety.

Q: Who is eligible to live at The 11:59 House? A: We serve veterans, seniors, recently released inmates, displaced adults, disabled adults who can live independently, domestic violence survivors, and more. Residents must have a stable income and be drug and alcohol-free or working towards sobriety.

2. Living Arrangements

Q: How many residents can live at The 11:59 House? A: Our houses accommodate between 6-8 residents. Most rooms are shared, with very limited private room options.

Q: How long can a resident stay at The 11:59 House? Residents can stay as long or as short as they'd like as long as program rules are followed. We understand some residents do not want to continuously move which is why we offer long and short term options.

Q: Is this a coed house? A: We do have houses that are coed. However, men and women are roomed separately. We do have men only and women 

only housing as well.

Q: What amenities are included in the rent? A: Rent includes utilities, Wi-Fi, access to a washer and dryer, common areas, and a large backyard with a grilling area.

Q: Are pets allowed? A: No, pets are not permitted at The 11:59 House.

3. Costs and Fees

Q: What is the cost per bed? A: Rent starts at $650 per bed per month. Private rooms start at $950 per month. There is also a $300 non-refundable community fee, which is a one-time payment. No other fees apply. 

Q: Are utilities and Wi-Fi included in the rent? A: Yes, both utilities and Wi-Fi are included in the monthly rent.

4. Application and Move-In Process

Q: What is required to apply? A: Residents must complete an intake form and provide proof of income. The application process typically takes 10-15 minutes, and the entire process from application to move-in can take up to 3 business days, unless there is a waiting list. Emergency and same day placements are also available.

Q: Are background checks required? A: Background checks are conducted on a case-by-case basis. There are no credit checks. Individuals with criminal records are welcome to apply as long as they agree to follow all program rules.

5. Rules and Regulations

Q: Is there a curfew? A: Yes, curfew is at 11 pm. Residents who work past this time must submit their work schedule for approval from the program director.

Q: Are visitors allowed? A: No, visitors are not allowed to ensure the safety and respect of other residents.

Q: What are the quiet hours? A: Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am.

6. Services and Support

Q: Are meals provided? A: Meals are not provided, but assistance with obtaining meals from local partners can be arranged.

Q: Is transportation available? A: Transportation can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.

Q: Are counseling services offered? A: We can connect residents with off-site counseling services and provide on-site supportive assistance.

7. Payment and Financial Support

Q: Can residents use housing vouchers? A: We are currently working on the process to accept Section 8 vouchers. More information will be provided soon.

Q: How is rent paid? A: Residents have multiple payment methods as outlined in the resident handbook.

8. Safety and Security

Q: What safety measures are in place? A: The facility is equipped with security cameras, random inspections, and frequent on-site personnel. Residents can report maintenance issues via a dedicated email.

9. Day-to-Day Living

Q: Can residents personalize their living space? A: Personalization is allowed only with the program director’s permission.

Q: Are there common areas for socializing? A: Yes, there is a living room, large backyard with a grill, and designated areas for socializing.

10. Resident Independence and Support

Q: Are residents allowed to leave and return freely? A: Residents can come and go as they wish before 11 pm. The doors lock at 11 pm, and no one is permitted to enter after this time without prior approval.

Q: What support is available for residents seeking permanent housing? A: We assist residents with applying for benefits, job searches, resume building, interview preparation, and finding affordable permanent housing.
